OUR HISTORY

History & Ownership

  • Established in 1897 in Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza.

  • In 1969 the Pescarmona family acquired the estate.

  • Third generation leadership: Sofía and Lucila Pescarmona carry the vision forward, with winemaker Juan Roby Stordeur (since approx 2002) at the helm of viticulture and oenology.

  • The estate has become a benchmark for female leadership in the Argentine wine industry.

Location & Vineyards

  • Headquarters & principal estate: San Martín 1745, Mayor Drummond, Luján de Cuyo, Mendoza Province.

  • Owns multiple vineyard sites across Mendoza including the historic vines: two centennial vineyards (one planted 1906, another 1930) focused on Malbec.

  • Elevation, terroir diversity and careful vineyard management allow them to craft wines with strong expression of Mendoza’s viticulture.

Sustainability, Certification & Philosophy

  • Lagarde is certified as a B Corporation, among the first wineries in Latin America to achieve this designation.

  • Their sustainability model addresses social, environmental, and economic dimensions: water conservation, composting organic waste, use of ecological bottles, emphasis on community.

  • Their vineyard strategy: protect legacy old vines, regenerate via modern agronomic methods (e.g., drip irrigation), diversify terroir sites.

  • Philosophy: “We consider ourselves humble caretakers of this jewel of Mendoza… Our wines are an invitation to share genuine moments and connections.”

Key Strengths & Differentiators

  • Heritage: One of Argentina’s oldest wineries with centennial vineyards, giving depth of history and terroir.

  • Family driven: Strong family leadership with a multi-generational continuity (Pescarmona family) which brings authenticity.

  • Innovation: Early adopter of non-traditional varietals in Argentina (e.g., Viognier, Moscato Bianco) to diversify style.

  • Sustainability leadership: B-Corp certification, full vineyard certification plans, integrated hospitality aligned with land stewardship.

  • Premium positioning: From varietal lines to high end single vineyard and icon wines, enabling layered market approach.

  • Hospitality & Experience: Combining wine production with culinary excellence and memorable visitor experiences → strengthens brand value.
